May 2-12, 2025, are the date for your calendars. The 2025 edition of the MPP may be seven months away, but it's never a bad idea to plan ahead for what will be an incredible 11 days of hot poker action in the Cyprus sun.
Understandably, the full schedule has yet to be determined, but PokerNewshas learned of five key events that will run during the 2025 MPP. These include a return of the $5,300 buy-in MPP Main Event, which carries a $5 million guarantee on its prize pool.
The MPP Main Event obliterated its $5 million guarantee in May 2024 thanks to 1,260 players turning out in force. Those entrants created a $6,048,000 prize pool, resulting in eight of the nine finalists walking away with at least six figures and champion Azamat Lamkov receiving $1 million.
Satellites for the MPP Main Event will run across the GGPoker Network, awarding $10,000 packages to the lucky winners. Over 170 players, including the Main Event's worthy champion, won packages online last year.
At the 2024 MPP, the $1,100 Mystery Bounty kicked off the festival. Russian grinder Aleksey Savenkov triumphed in that event and took home $85,000 from the main prize pool, plus bounties.
The $2,200 EAPT Grand Final, which is renamed the Luxon Pay Grand Final in 2025, saw Boris Kolev outlast 1,564 opponents and scoop $437,000 of the $3,004,800 prize pool.
The turnout for the $1,100 EAPT Cyprus event was equally as impressive, with the 886 entrants filling the prize pool with $850,560, far more than the advertised $500,000 guarantee. Russia's Denis Zelenkin came out on top in that event, turning his $1,100 into $139,000.
Serbia's Jovan Kenjic is the reigning $10,400 High Roller champion, which is called the Onyx High Roller in 2025. Kenjic banked $365,000 for his victory after navigating through a talented field of 159 entries who ad created a $1,526,400 prize pool.
The $10,400 Onyx High Roller is named so because of the new Onyx Room built at the venue. The Onyx Room is where members of the exclusive Onyx Club, an invite-only members club, can play high-stakes poker and gaming away from the prying eyes of Joe Public.
Merit Poker President Songul Bekem cannot wait to welcome players back to Cyprus for the 2025 MPP.
"We warmly welcome the return of the MPP in 2025 and encourage players to save the date and plan now. Suffice to say, we always aim to give the players the best possible experience in everything we do and we welcome players both old and new to absorb the unique Merit experience."
