Played with a Spanish deck, this game served as the model for later iterations of Rummy. As the game expanded internationally, it chrummy gateanged significantly, adjusting to the subtle cultural differences of each new location. By the late nineteenth century, rummy had arrived in the United States, where it became extremely popular and started to take on different forms, such as Indian and Gin rummy.
