Mike Matusow is off to a solid start to the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP). But a one-outer on the river deep in a Seniors event on Saturday left the four-time bracelet winner frustrated, and short on chips.
The hand in question, captured by PokerNewslive reporter Jacob Wilson, took place on Day 3 of Event #40: $5,000 Seniors High Roller, which had 47 players return for Day 3 and will award $646,845 to the eventual champion.

Marc Rivera: 10♥10♣
Mike Matusow: K♠J♣
The Q♠J♠2♠fired Matusow into the lead, and left Rivera drawing to just a single out, as Matusow covered spades. The turnA♣kept Rivera drawing slim, however, now a set would be futile: he needed a straight to stay alive. The river K♥gave him exactly that, as Matusow got up from his chair and shouted "One out!" in disbelief, as the chips got pushed over to Rivera.
The one-outer left Matusow stunned, while many online questioned his call-off with king-jack. Matusow ended up finishing in 15th place for $31,243.
Matusow is known equally for his signature blowups late in tournaments and the emotion he shows at the table. He was the subject of a 2024 documentary highlighting his tumultuous career, which is available to watch for free on YouTube.
